TRS: UBI Trojan Horse - Part 1
I hate fighting with friends. I hate Milton Friedman more. I loathe the monetarist mindset that has us all in tatters. UBI was a libertarian ideal that was to wipe out the gains of the New Deal and thus empower capitalism even more as it turned us into consumption units without any safety nets. The lone thing we own is our labor. Our time. When we leverage the 40 hours a job guarantee provides, it precludes subsidizing bad wages. The intent is not to make people whole, but allow growth to continue without changing the material conditions of the working class. It is a trojan horse, one sadly accepted by friends who should know better.
